Deathpuddle is the new Crusader in the fourth tier of the Superhero Spring Event. At level 100, he unlockes X-Team to increase his DPS for each different tag in the formation, and Cell Mutation - unlocked at 300 - will further increase his damage (this time, multiplicatively) for each Healer present.

Deathpuddle: "Are you wondering how good I am? Of course you are. Spoiler alert: I am awesome at everything — assuming you want everything to die, that is.

I'm a killer of things. I get better at killing things with most of my upgrades. And, if you do somehow manage to get me killed, don't worry! Death is only temporary and I come back BETTER THAN EVER.

Seriously, I'm the best. Buy me!"

Strategies[view] [edit] [history] [purge]

  • When paired with a tank crusader, Dark Gryphon, and a healer, Deathpuddle's Amped Up upgrade can be used to push much further through the last levels than what's normally possible, albeit at a slower pace. This involves building up a crowd of enemies to attack your formation, preferably a well-healed tank crusader buffed by Dark Gryphon's damage reduction, which will cause Deathpuddle to multiplicatively buff his DPS by 50% once per second for up to 50 seconds. Eventually Deathpuddle's DPS will climb high enough to kill enough monsters to progress to the next level. Since enemies' health increases at higher levels, this process will take longer the further you push.
    • Dark Gryphon's Legendary Charm gear can be used to further increase the DPS output of Deathpuddle and speed up progressing through levels. At level 1, this gear increases the DPS of all crusaders by 10% for every monster on screen, and upgrading the legendary doubles the buff every level. Since the above strategy causes a large number of enemies to build up on screen, this buff will increase Deathpuddle's DPS quicker. Increasing enemy spawn speed will further accelerate the progress by bringin more enemies on screen.
However, since boss levels only have a limited number of enemies and they all die before the boss is defeated, thus leaving only one enemy on screen, the effect of Dark Gryphon's gear won't be as useful on bosses. Therefore this tactic is mostly useful for speeding up progress rather than buffing Deathpuddle's absolute maximum DPS for further progress through levels.
    • Polly the Parrot's Got a Cracker! upgrade can be used to decrease the amount of time it takes for an enemy to start attacking the formation and trigger Deathpuddle's ability, slightly decreasing the total amount of time spent on levels. However, this can become detrimental on the last levels when the number of enemies becomes overwhelming and you'd rather have them make their way to you slowly while still providing a DPS bonus via Dark Gryphon's gear.
Note that if you also have a crusader in your formation whose abilities increase your DPS while the formation is under attack (such as Jason, Master of Shadows with his Legendary sword's ability when the Golden Age talent has been purchased), this can negate Polly's use for this purpose by killing the monsters in less than a second when they reach your formation, thus not giving Deathpuddle's ability enough time to activate.
