The Evanescent is the new Crusader in the fifth tier of the Emo's New Moon Event. Stories tell of beings that escort souls from one existence to another. The Evanescent is one such being, an entity tied to the entropy and transition of all things into... what comes next.

When it comes to your formations, The Evanescent brings something unique to Slot 22. They use The Great Equalizer to grant the base tags of each Crusaders in The Evanescent's column to each other Crusader in the column. For example, if you have Zoraeban, Demonic Angel in your column along with The Evanescent, every Crusader in that column will be an Angel and a Demon in addition to their other base tags.

Vanitas, Bring Me to Life, and Memento Mori each offer more straightforward Global DPS buffs. Candle in the Window buffs Crusaders behind The Evanescent in the formation for each Enchantment Point (EP) from heroes not in the formation, while Until the Mourning increases the potency of the buff. Finally, Samhain increases Global DPS for each unique tag in the formation.

The Evanescent awaits all things. After all, we all die eventually....

• Samhain provides a bonus for each tag on each Crusader in the formation. This means that if you have ten Crusaders with the Human tag, the buff will be increased for all ten Human tags.
  • Abilities that add tags can't add duplicate tags - For example, Arenvarr the Beheaded's 'Cursed Gold' ability can't give a second Undead tag to a Crusader that is already Undead, which means the Samhain bonus won't be increased.
• If The Great Equalizer is propagated to other Crusaders using an ability like Langley the Conductor's 'Flip the Switch', the extra crusaders affected will get the new tags but won't contribute their own to the shared pool.
• Using The Evanescent in a column with Mycall and a human (any human, though Jim, Dr. Evil, or Penny have good buffs to go along with it) gives the column both the human and female tag. Placing Mycall in the middle will pass those tags forward and backwards to each adjacent column. Placing Langley adjacent to Mycall in the row behind Mycall will then pass the Human and Female tags to the next row back. This will make up to four columns of Human/Female tagged crusaders to offer a large buff from The Twins that can be mimiced by Mindy to offer a very large non-positional buff to pair with Milgrid, as well as allow many useful legendaries to affect your primary DPS if they are part of this Propagation chain.
• Using the aforementioned Propagation chain with an animal in the same column as The Evanescent will Propagate the animal tag. If Dr. Evil is used as a buffer, his fifth ability, Human Testing, must be disabled or your total DPS will most likely go to zero. Disabling this is an 1800% loss in dps, or a reduction of 1/19, but by Propagating a Dragon tag (which always comes connect to an Animal tag), you may be able to enable a legendary such as TES's third legendary, to make up for and surpass this loss.
